Sophina's Cafe

I’ve never had Somali food before, but we were in the area last night and it was around dinner time. The host was very kind and explained some of the main dishes to us. My partner and I shared kay kay, a dish with wide flat pasta noodles (similar to shorter pieces of lasagna) and meat - we chose chicken. It also came with a small green salad on the side. The flavors were delicious, I loved the spices. It was just a tiny bit spicy, not too much - and I usually can’t handle much spice. We also ordered meat sambusas, which are like a crispy meat Pattie in fried dough. It was similar to a samosa in Indian food. Our child got French fries and a mango smoothie, which he drank right up. It looked like there was whipped cream on top. The atmosphere is simple, with exposed pipes and overhead lighting. There are art and mirrors on the walls, bringing additional light and color to the space. Lots of people were coming in and out for takeaway orders. Thank you Sophinas for a welcoming and delicious experience! We will be back :)

Amazing food full of flavor and very kind people. Loved every minute of it.

Stumbled upon this place while thrifting next door. Open for dine-in and takeout. Appears to be a small family business, and the service is really hospitable. While waiting for our food they offered us free tea, and even gave us an additional drink just because we were two people (we only ordered one combo). At first glance the prices for a combo appear expensive at $13 but it’s a large portion of food, a full container of meat and rice. More than enough for one person - and in fact, enough to comfortably feed our family of 3. Note that they may not have all menu items at all times - when we went they only had one appetizer item. Overall a great deal with a massive portion for the price and kind folks working there, will be back!

I went there two days in a row, the first experience was excellent. I ordered the Jabati Wrap it was so good I went back the next day & ordered the Rice & Lamb Shank. Healthy portions very good tasting food. I highly recommend this Restaurant. Clean Restaurant, professional & courteous Customer Service. Very nice experience. Ismail is very polite & makes sure the food is quality. His Father Aweis the Owner personally made my second order the following day. I ate like a King & was respected to the fullest as a Customer. These guys are awesome. Try it. I promise you will not be disappointed. Price is not expensive for what you get quality wise, & just being overall genuine people as well in their services was awesome. Best food around I promise. Thank you very much Guys. I'm definitely a satisfied Customer I'll be a regular for life.

Can we talk about the goat? I want to talk about the goat. Oh and the rice. Holy moley the rice man. This was tender and aromatic goat meat. You need goat meat. Ever think about goat. Well now when you think about GOAT you won't be thinking about Tom Brady you will think Sophina's Cafe.

This was my first experience with Somali food and people. Sophina and her family provided an exceptionally enjoyable dining experience for newcomers. They offered complimentary food and drinks, checked in on us at the table, and always had warm smiles at the ready. One plate feeds two, and the quality of the meat and produce was amazing! Thank you!
